We need your support!!
Are you a journalist, web designer or law student? Are you
a relative or victim of repression? Or do you simply share
the conviction that justice is an imperative need?
If so, then we invite you to form part of a network of volunteers!
The arrest of Pinochet in London and the thirtieth anniversary
of the military coup stimulated renewed interest among Chileans
and persons throughout the world to learn more about the story
of the military dictatorship and its continuing implications
for Chile today. The Memoria y Justicia web site responds
to that concern by providing reliable information on the judicial
history of human rights in Chile and developments on the legal
front in the courts today.
Run on a shoestring budget, the web siteÕs development since
its beginning three years ago has paralleled the availability
of technical and economic resources. Based in Santiago, Chile,
we have begun the year 2006 with no economic support, but
with readership hovering near 2000 visitors each month, we
are determined not to abandon the project.
We believe the Memoria y Justicia web site has yet to reach
its full potential as a tool that advances the cause of justice.
In the future we hope to:
Incorporate a news briefs section.
Expand the historic memory aspect of the web site.
Explore interactive mechanisms to make the site more responsive
to current events, international human rights conferences
and campaigns.
Update and maintain the Case Summary charts.
Incorporate more images.
We welcome your ideas and invite you, our readers, to participate.
We need pro bono designers and journalists!
ANOTHER WAY TO HELP
Memoria y Justicia Services arose from the need for an economic
base to enable us to project the web site into the future.
We now offer to the Chilean and international academic, journalism
and law communities the skills that are evident in the web
site:
Translation of legal documents from Spanish-English and English-Spanish
Research assistance on human rights, justice, and other social
issues
Consultant services for preparation of human rights and justice
reports
Coordination and scheduling of visits to Chile with human
rights and community organizations, and lawyers
By employing Memoria y Justicia Services,
you provide much needed support to allow the web site project
to flourish and expand. For further information please contact
